יהוה
The Divine Name of the Creator
Throughout History there have been many titles and names given to the Almighty Sovereign Creator Power the Life-Force Essence of the endless Universe. We see words used like God, Almighty, LORD, Creator and Jehovah[1], none of them are names. However, in the Hebrew Bible He has provided for us only one personal name. He says: ‘I am YaHWeh that is my name, Isaiah 42:8. (Yahweh is the English transliteration of His Hebrew name). Although He has many descriptive titles, Yahweh honors his worshippers by asking them to address him by his true personal proper name. Genesis 17:1; Acts 4:24.
The personal proper name of the One Almighty Sovereign is אהיה as written in Hebrew, (which is AHYH in English), and the name He gave to Moses, Exodus 3:14-15. He says אהיה (AHYH meaning ‘I-AM’ in English) using the first personal pronoun ‘I’. We however are to say יהוה (YHWH meaning ‘He-is’ in English) using the second person pronoun ‘He’. Yahweh translated means: He-is, He-exists, or Ever-living. Yahweh is the only one to whom we owe our reverence, prayer, and worship. We should accept none other name for worship or for prayer..
Yahweh is the Almighty’s name as was given by Him to us, the people of ‘True Israel’. This name is to be spoken (as a memorial) to all generations, and this name should be made known to, and used by all true believers, Exodus 3:14-15. The personal proper name Yahweh originates from the Hebrew verb הוה (HYH or HWH) meaning in English, to be, or to exist or being or is in all tenses (the past, the present, and the future). The underlying Hebrew meaning is ‘to have life’ (exist). It is also often used to mean the ‘character’ of someone. The addition of the prefix י (Y) the Hebrew letter ‘Yod’ adds the pronoun ‘He’ to the verb הוה (י). Notice, there is NO reference here to a Trinity by the use of the pronoun ‘He’. The absolute Biblical fact is that the Creator’s name Y-HWH is pronounced YaH-WeH (Yahweh), in English. The German yes (YaH) sound connected to the ‘we’ (WeH) the sound of the English word ‘wet’ but omitting the ‘t’ sound. Note: The WeH sound of Yahweh’s name is not pronounced ‘way’ (notice that the ending is an ‘H’ not a ‘y’). The ‘H’ (Hebrew letter ‘Hey’) is an indistinguishable English ‘h’ sound as in the word ‘h-igh’ (the exhaling of breath).
We believe in the original Hebrew/Aramaic names of Biblical persons, and that they should be correctly transliterated to reflect the Hebrew sounds using English letters (as applicable, and where possible), and not deliberately mistranslated, replaced or substituted with unsupported English words as has become prevalent in many English Bible translations. Substituting Hebrew names hides the many important Hebrew meanings of these names, many of which have important compound word meanings.
Yahweh is the Almighty Sovereign Eternal Creator Power, and the Life-Force Essence of the endless Universe. He Created our globe and all things existing, Gen. 1:1-31; 2:21-25. Yahweh is commonly referred to in error by the pagan term God. Yahweh has declared Himself to be Echad, meaning One, Deut. 6:4 and that He has further revealed Himself to be Father and is the one (set-apart) Life-Force. To His family of believers, He is Father as in Deut. 32:6; Ps. 2:7; 68:5; 89:26. Life-Force (Breath of Life) as in Gen. 1:2; 6:3; Matt. 3:16. The ‘Father’ Yahweh and the Set-apart-Life-Force are one and is the same Creator, the Life-Force-Ever-Living One. We reject the Christian Trinity or the belief of ‘three persons’ existing in the one being, or a Trinity God. Believing in such an entity is false, and is a primitive Catholic belief that is foreign to the Hebrew Scriptures, and concept comes from ancient pagan religions.
Yahweh rules over all His Creation, all that has ever existed, all that exists now and will ever exist; He only is incorporeal, omnipotent, omnipresent, unchangeable, all-knowing, is above all, and to whom only we owe our reverence and worship, Deut. 6:14-15. He is the only true Alueim (collective Powers, Almighty-One); He is One, Isa. 43:10; 44:6. ‘Hear O Israel, Yahweh our Alueim (Almighty-One), Yahweh is One!’ Deu. 6:4; Mark 12:29. We believe there is no other Power or Life-Force but the One, Matt. 4:10. We believe that Yahweh is in full and absolute control over all of Eternity and over all of His creation at all times, Isa. 46:10; that Yahweh is the Original-Originator Creator and Life-Force Essence that is governing both good and bad, Isa. 45:7; 54:16; Prov.16: 4. He controls all in accordance with His will and edict.
Yahweh uses His created celestial messengers (the Alueim, aka angels) and His terrestrial messengers (the Hebrew prophets) to administer his will and power though out His endless Universe (His entire creation). These messengers also administer Yahweh’s will for us on our own globe. We believe Yahweh’s messengers are not capable, and were not created to be able to counter His supreme will, nor would they ever desire to do so. They would never nor could they ever fall from His grace to become evil or wicked. In the Hebrew Bible, the celestial messengers may at times be referred to as an existing-one, or mighty-one when they represent the authority and power of their Almighty Sovereign Creator Yahweh when conversing with the ‘Adam-kind’ (man-kinds) on earth. Only Adam-kinds (man-kinds) have to our knowledge been given the gift of ‘free-will’ (gift to choose right from wrong).
We believe that the words ‘Holy Spirit (Set-apart, Life-Breath)’ are man-made adjectives used to describe the mighty power and influence of Yahweh and are a reference to His name Yahweh, since Yahweh is a pure Life-Force Essence. Yahweh is without a physical body and without any physical properties, yet He has revealed Himself to True Israel through His many attributes, Gen. 1:1, and through the anointed chosen Prophets, and the Alueim (mighty-ones) as recorded throughout the Hebrew Bible.
Yahweh has chosen the people of True Israelites to be his witnesses; He is the only One (Sovereign Power) that is in existence, ‘before me there was no Alueim (Powers) formed, neither shall there be after me.’ Isaiah 43:10. He is also the only Savior. ‘I, even I am Yahweh; and besides me there is no savior.’ Isaiah 43:11.
There is only one holy (set apart) Almighty Power, Life-Force, His name is Yahweh, there is no other. ‘Thus saith Yahweh the King of Israel, and his (Israel’s) redeemer, Yahweh of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and besides me there is no Alueim!’ (Mighty-ones or Powers) Isaiah 44:6.
‘I am Yahweh, and there is none else, there is no Powers beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:’ Isaiah 44:6. ‘Hear, Israel: Yahweh is our Mighty-One. Yahweh is One.’ Deu. 6:4.
Yahshua (Jesus) is NOT Yahweh, he is NOT the Almighty-One. All those that do the will of the Father Yahshua are also sons and daughters of the Father Yahweh by doing His will just as Yahshua is, Matt. 12:50.
That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am Yahweh, and there is none else. Isaiah 45:6.
1. In the 7th Century A.D., vowel pointing characters were inserted in Biblical Hebrew in an attempt to expand the language (update it) and to control (and/or develop) the oral expression of the Hebrew script (words). This action unfortunately led to, and permitted the pollution by scholars of the original Biblical Hebrew language, which did not show the vowels in the words. The name יהוה (the proper Hebrew name of the Almighty) was falsely vowel pointed with the Hebrew word ‘aDoNaY’ (meaning LORD in Hebrew). Although thought to have been done for reverence, it corrupted the original oral expression of the sacred name of the Almighty Creator.
The resulting corruption may also have been done to hide the proper expression of the sacred name, and that the Hebrew word ‘LORD’ was supposed to be substituted for יהוה (the correctly transliterated Hebrew name Yahweh). The form ‘Jehovah’ is a false transliteration of the resulting corrupted ‘hybrid’ name (by adding the vowels of the Hebrew word ‘LORD’ into the proper Hebrew name יהוה). The corrupted hybrid word ‘Jehovah’ came into use as a substitute name for the Almighty in the 14th Century A.D. after the letter ‘J’ was introduced into English in 1524 A.D. Hebrew does not have a ‘J’ sound.
The continued use of the false corrupted hybrid word ‘Jehovah’ by religious Bible groups today, is the failure or simple arrogance of scholars, or even ordinary Biblical people to recognize the resulting deception of the most important Biblical name in the Hebrew Bible. This all came about by adding false vocalization using vowel pointing characters to the original ancient Biblical Hebrew that never existed. The correct vocalization of the Hebrew name יהוה is ‘Yahweh’ (when properly transliterated in English).
